Münsterland’s museums
Living museum
You can of course simply "visit" a museum but it is far better to truly "experience" a museum. But as it is difficult to truly experience a museum’s artefacts when they are locked away in rather dull exhibition rooms the community of Velen decided to distribute its "living museum" exhibits over five different locations. Now you can truly experience the atmosphere relating to the artefacts – from a medieval castle to a historic sawmill.

The bell museum
A trip to the Westphalian bell museum is bound to be a resounding and exciting trip back in time to experience the history of the bell and of bell-founding. The striking, clanging, booming and ringing of the bells will make a visit to this unique North German museum something truly special.
Schloss Lembeck
This is well worth a visit not only for such exhibits as "Der Prahlhans" but also for the "Schlaunsche Saal" that was created by Conrad Schlaun a renowned master builder from Münster. Visitors to Schloss Lembeck get double value as the museum also houses Lembeck’s museum of local history (Heimatmuseum) that also has a wealth of exhibits worth seeing.
